A cabinet can fit through a hatch and still be impossible to use in the chosen position. Make three checks: the route inside, the space while running and the space needed for service.

Completing this list does not certify an installation or replace the exact manual.1. The delivery route
Record the clear opening after accounting for the hatch frame, pipes and any fixed obstruction. Then inspect the turn immediately beyond it. A cabinet that passes straight through a rectangular opening may still be impossible to rotate into place. Include handles and drain connectors when checking the current unit drawing.
Compare those measurements with the orientation you can actually maintain. Do not assume a unit may be tipped or run on its side just because that makes it easier to squeeze through. Follow its transport and upright-operation instructions.
2. The operating envelope
The shared Shield 60/60P/85P manual specifies six inches at the inlet and outlet. That figure is not a universal allowance for every brand, and it does not include all service access. The archived compact Shield manuals contain clearance notation that needs clarification before an installation dimension is adopted. See the shared manual, PDF page 6.
On a sketch, draw the cabinet and inlet/outlet allowances separately. Add the support arrangement and hose sweep. Raising or hanging the machine also changes its drain height; use only the approved support instructions.
3. The service envelope
| Action | Demonstrate before accepting the position |
|---|---|
| Remove the filter | It can come all the way out. |
| Inspect the drain | Your hand can reach the secured connection without folding the hose. |
| Read or adjust controls | The display or compatible controller can be used from an accessible position. |
| Remove the machine | The route remains available if repair requires taking the cabinet out. |
Stop when the drawing is uncertain
The live Shield 35P table and archived specification differ on its length and weight. If your opening is tight, request the drawing for the hardware revision you will receive. The Shield 35P review records the disagreement; choosing whichever number fits the opening is not a safe way to resolve it.
The sketch is unfinished while dimensions conflict
Label unresolved dimensions as unresolved on the sketch. Choosing the smaller published figure does not create clearance.
A larger accessible location can be the better fit once all three envelopes are drawn.
