Two decisions, in order
- Does any part of the intended hose route rise? If yes, the gravity-only 35M does not meet that route requirement. Investigate the 35P pump limits.
- If gravity works, are the 35M’s 30%, 50% and 70% presets sufficient? If not, examine the 35P’s digital control and confirm its current adjustment range.
| Decision | Shield 35M | Shield 35P |
|---|---|---|
| Rated capacity | 35 pints/day at 80°F/60% RH | 35 pints/day at 80°F/60% RH |
| Drainage | Gravity only | Gravity or built-in pump |
| Control | 30%, 50%, 70% presets; continuous | Digital adjustment; upper range differs between sources |
| Physical fit | 15.35 × 11.2 × 11.4 in in sheet | Page and PDF disagree on length and weight |
| Owner evidence | Gravity-route and noise concerns | Automatic discharge benefit; short gravity-hose complaint |
35M specification; 35P specification. Neither figure is a controlled test performed by this site.
When both remain candidates
With a usable downhill route and no need for intermediate settings, the available evidence does not produce an automatic winner. Compare the actual offer and installation requirements. We have no matched noise test, lifetime study or current comparable price set that would justify a “quieter,” “more reliable” or “best value” award.
Do not turn different owners’ placements and observation periods into a head-to-head trial. If the route is still uncertain, complete the drainage decision before adding an external pump to a hypothetical 35M setup; that becomes a separate equipment and compatibility choice.
